Tottenham are reportedly keeping tabs on RB Salzburg forward Benjamin Sesko and will monitor his progress next season ahead of a potential swoop.
Spurs have been one of the Premier League teams to watch in the first month of the transfer window. Following four new additions, they look ready to progress from last season’s top-four finish and into the Champions League.
The focus will soon turn to outgoings, before the January window and next summer’s market both approach.
And it is in those two windows for which Tottenham are putting initial plans in place.
Antonio Conte’s side had links with a move for Slovenia international striker Sesko in January. According to the Daily Express, though, the 13-cap star is back on the north London club’s radar.
Tottenham director of football Fabio Paratici is liaising with club scouts, making the 19-year-old one to watch next season.
The newspaper claims that while Tottenham will not make a move for Sesko this summer, he could become a firm target in the two upcoming transfer windows.
Sesko played 36 games for Salzburg last season, scoring 10 goals and assisting seven others.
However, he will likely take centre stage for the Austrian club next season following the departure of Karim Adeyemi to Borussia Dortmund, to replace Manchester City-bound Erling Haaland.
Haaland also rose to prominence at Salzburg. Sesko is therefore looking to follow in the footsteps of the Norwegian and Adeyemi.
The Slovenian played six Champions League games last season and could impress in the competition next season.
Sesko made his international debut in June 2021 and has scored two goals for his country. Meanwhile, his Salzburg contract only expires in 2026.
Tottenham target Sesko latest Salzburg star
Sesko looks to be the latest Salzburg star off the club’s impressive production line.
Not only is he following in the footsteps of Haaland and Adeyemi with his goalscoring feats, Salzburg have players in all positions who have gone – and could still get to – bigger and better things.
Leeds United have signed midfielder Brenden Aaronson from the Austrian club. Boss Jesse Marsch, who used to manage Salzburg, is also keen on Mohamed Camara.
Meanwhile, Leeds have added Rasmus Kristensen to their ranks from Salzburg.
Salzburg, like RB Leipzig, have a successful transfer model and with Sesko in their ranks, their finances from sales will not run dry any time soon.
