Harry Kane is reportedly open to extending his Tottenham contract.

The England captain has entered the final 18 months of his deal and there are growing concerns over his long-term future at the club.

Kane is obviously eager to win silverware with Tottenham on a horrible run of 15 years without a major trophy.

He has lost three finals with the north Londoners, including the Champions League final against Liverpool in 2019.

Tottenham are in a difficult situation with Kane as they may feel forced to cash in on their prized asset in the summer transfer window unless they want to risk losing him for nothing in 2024.

Manchester City tried to sign the 29-year-old in the summer of 2021 but have since brought in Julian Alvarez and the brilliant Erling Haaland.

With City no longer interested, Kane has been strongly linked with a move to their rivals, Manchester United.

The Red Devils need a new striker and are expected to sign one in the summer after adding Wout Weghorst on loan until the end of the season.

Weghorst is a decent stop-gap, but Erik ten Hag knows he needs a long-term No. 9 and Kane could be his man. United are also reportedly interested in Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen and RB Salzburg’s Benjamin Sesko.

However, in a bit of a blow to United, The Athletic correspondent David Ornstein has claimed that Kane is ‘open’ to extending his stay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Discussions over a new contract have been put off due to the ‘lack of opportunities’ in recent months given the hectic schedule at both club and international level.

Furthermore, the winter transfer window is currently open and Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte is eager to improve his squad.

Talks between Kane and the club will get underway next month, Ornstein claims.

‘If the circumstances are right’, Kane would be ‘open’ to signing a new Spurs contract.

Time is running out for Kane to get his hands on some silverware, so Spurs’ end to the season is crucial – with the club still in the FA Cup and Champions League.

‘Recruitment and prospects of success are sure to be key factors’ as well, with the 29-year-old obviously motivated to stay and win things with his boyhood club, but may realise that this simply will not happen.

Kane’s current focus is success at club level and he is not thinking about leaving, but if a new contract is not agreed in the coming months and Spurs end the season without a trophy, questions will be asked.

Amidst interest from Manchester United and Bayern Munich, it is said that Kane’s representatives have not held any ‘serious discussions’ over a transfer.

While Spurs fans anxiously wait to see what happens with Kane, the club’s head coach Conte is out of contract at the end of the season, though there is the option to extend, the report adds.
