Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has made a bold claim that his club is more popular then two of their biggest rivals Chelsea and Arsenal, report Cadena Ser.
The Argentine has received a lot of praise for how influential he has been at the club launching back-to-back titles challenges since arriving at White Hart Lane. W hile they may have fallen short last season when chasing Leicester, they are only four points behind leaders Chelsea with just six games remaining .
Spurs were dealt a bitter blow by the Blues on Saturday when they lost 4-2 in the FA cup semi-final and even levelling the match twice wasn't enough to contain Antonio Conte's men.
The defeat handed Tottenham an unwanted record of losing their last seven semi-finals in the cup and despite the lack of titles Pochettino has stated the club is more popular than his rivals.
He said: “I would love to be here for as long as possible because it’s a club with history, a club that is the most popular in London, more than Arsenal and Chelsea.
“Tottenham is a historic club at the same level as Manchester United and Liverpool.”
While Pochettino has stated the loss to Chelsea will not affect Tottenham's form in the league it could still be a decisive moment in the season.
Spurs will continue their title push on Wednesday when they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, while Chelsea have the opportunity to pile the pressure on early when welcoming Southampton to Stamford Bridge two days earlier.
