Tottenham and Chelsea appear set for disappointment in their respective pursuits of Gleison Bremer as the Brazilian star is reportedly in line to join Inter Milan.

Bremer has impressed scouts in Europe and beyond with his top displays for Torino over the past three seasons. In the 2021-22 campaign, he made 33 appearances and helped Torino finish 10th in Italy’s elite league.

The centre-back has a contract which runs until 2024. But he may not see it out as plenty of teams are vying to sign him.

Manchester United and Liverpool have previously been linked with Bremer. But more recently it has been Tottenham, Chelsea and Juventus pushing to complete a deal.

According to a report earlier this week, Spurs are eyeing up swoops for both Bremer and Gabriel Jesus of Manchester City.

However, Antonio Conte’s side, along with Chelsea, are on course to miss out when it comes to Bremer.

According to Italian source Tuttomercatoweb, as cited by Juve FC News, the uncapped 25-year-old is moving closer to an Inter switch.

That’s because he has agreed personal terms with the Nerazzurri. The deal will see him earn £2.5million per season in Milan.

That equates to around £48,000 each week, although Bremer will take home more than this thanks to bonuses.

Clearly, Bremer could have earned a higher sum if he had gone to Tottenham and Chelsea. But it seems the defender wishes to stay in Italy and link up with one of Serie A’s best teams.

Inter are willing to offload Alessandro Bastoni this summer and Bremer will likely arrive at the club as his replacement.

Spurs are in the mix for Bastoni too, so he could become their priority if Bremer’s transfer to Inter is confirmed.

Inter’s plan is to boost their finances by selling Bastoni for a big fee and capturing Bremer for less.

While the news of Bremer’s Inter contract is a setback for Spurs and Chelsea, there are of course plenty of alternatives.

Bastoni would be a good signing to improve Conte’s defence at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

For Chelsea, meanwhile, centre-back options include Josko Gvardiol of RB Leipzig and Sevilla’s Jules Kounde.

Elsewhere, Spurs have reportedly told Eintracht Frankfurt how much they are willing to pay for wide man Filip Kostic.
