After securing a top four finish and Champions League qualification last season, Spurs boss Antonio Conte is desperate to strengthen as he looks to turn his side into a trophy chasing machine.

Forster is the club's second signing of the summer after joining on a free transfer and agreeing a two-year contract.

The 34-year-old is expected to provide back-up to Frenchman Hugo Lloris - a position Spurs needed to fill after Pierluigi Gollini's loan deal came to an end. Forster made a total of 162 appearances for Southampton during his eight-year spell at St Mary's stadium.

The shot stopper has also been capped six times by England, with his most recent call-up coming in March.

Upon signing, Forster told the club's website: "I'm absolutely delighted. This is a fantastic opportunity for me. When a team like this comes along, it's impossible to say no. I couldn't get here fast enough to get it done.

"Everything about the place is world-class. The stadium is probably the best I've ever been to - ask any player in the Premier League, and that's what they'll say. The training ground is unbelievable, to be able to come here and work, and work hard... I'm very privileged. It's an opportunity I'm very grateful for. "It will be a fantastic season, fantastic to have Champions League football, obviously, important to have got that, and now having achieved that, I'm sure the Club will want to go as far as they can in the competition. I've played almost 50 European games, so if I can come in and help in any way possible, that's what I'll be looking to do." Tottenham have already done a bit of business this summer after sealing the signature of Inter Milan's Ivan Perisic. The club recently backed Conte with a £150million investment, meaning more signings are likely to follow before the start of the new Premier League campaign.
