Tottenham confirmed team vs Newcastle - Micky van de Ven out, Dragusin and Odobert start

Ange Postecoglou has named a Tottenham team to face Newcastle that has been dictated by some key injuries in his side.

Spurs have fallen to heavy defeats to Eddie Howe's side in each of their past two encounters at St James Park and Postecoglou will be looking to put that right. The visitors will have to do it without both of their strikers as new £65million signing Dominic Solanke is not ready to return just yet after his ankle injury, while Richarlison has suffered a muscle injury to continue his fragmented tenure in a Spurs shirt.

The Tottenham boss has also played it safe with Micky van de Ven after the Dutchman's injury scare in the game against Everton last weekend with Radu Dragusin coming into the side. Postecoglou does have the returning Rodrigo Bentancur to call upon in the midfield after the Uruguayan cleared the required time out through the concussion protocol after his collision at Leicester and he is back on the bench. Pape Matar Sarr comes into the team.

Postecoglou had plenty of decisions to make with Dejan Kulusevski impressing in a deeper role in the big win against Everton and Wilson Odobert making an eye-catching debut at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Both start this match against the Toon. Young midfielder Alfie Devine gets a spot on the bench.

Here's the team the Australian has select as Spurs take on the Magpies: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Dragusin, Udogie; Sarr, Bissouma, Maddison; Kulusevski, Son, Odobert. Subs: Forster, Davies, Spence, Gray, Bentancur, Devine, Bergvall, Werner, Johnson.
