Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon injured on Spain duty but Luis Enrique insists knock is 'nothing serious'

Spain coach Luis Enrique has allayed fears over the injury sustained by Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon on international duty.

Left-back Reguilon - Spurs' £25million summer signing from Real Madrid - made only his second senior international appearance on Wednesday night as he started for La Roja in their goalless friendly draw against neighbours Portugal.

However, the 23-year-old featured for only 45 minutes at the Estadio Jose Alvalade in Lisbon before being substituted at half-time with a knock.

Any potential lay-off for Reguilon would come as a considerable blow to Tottenham, with the player having enjoyed an impressive start to life in north London, making his first Premier League start on Sunday in the 6-1 demolition of Manchester United after appearances against Chelsea and Maccabi Haifa.

However, Luis Enrique revealed after the Iberian derby stalemate that the issue was not anything major, though does warrant further assessment from Spain's medical staff ahead of the Nations League double-header against Switzerland and Ukraine.

"Reguilon, we'll have to wait," he said.

"It's not anything serious. It's a knock which the doctors will have to look at. I hope it doesn't get too complicated."

Reguilon's Tottenham team-mate Giovani Lo Celso pulled out of the Argentina squad with a thigh injury earlier this week, while Gareth Bale has yet to make his second Spurs debut due to a knee problem.

Tottenham's hectic season continues after the international break with five matches to squeeze in before the end of October, against West Ham, LASK, Burnley, Antwerp and Brighton.
