Tottenham duo Hugo Lloris and Heung-min Son had to be separated by team-mates as they engaged in a heated row at the end of the first half of Monday night's Premier League clash against Everton.

Several Spurs players, including Giovani Lo Celso and Harry Winks, were forced to intervene and split up the angry pair as they headed in at the interval.

The pressure was on Spurs to pick up a positive result on Monday after their shock 3-0 defeat to Sheffield United last time out, with their hopes of European qualification on the line.

In a scrappy first half that lacked clear-cut chances, Jose Mourinho's side - who led through Lo Celso's deflected strike - would have been pleased to go into the break in front after Richarlison went close to an equaliser on the stroke of half-time.

Goalkeeper and captain Lloris was clearly angered by forward Son's attempts to get back and help defend that chance, confronting his team-mate after Richarlison had fired narrowly wide.

The Frenchman continued his row with Son after referee Graham Scott had blown for half-time, appearing to run over and square up to his fellow Tottenham star.

It is unclear if Mourinho witnessed the incident, but he would surely have been informed as Son and Lloris had to be quickly separated by team-mates as tempers flared.

The pair were later seen by television cameras embracing in the tunnel after the break, suggesting the matter had been resolved as the teams headed back out for the second half.
