Jack Wilshere was greeted with jeering Tottenham fans as the on-loan Arsenal star limped off at White Hart Lane with yet another injury problem.
The England international endured a miserable afternoon on his return to north London with Bournemouth as Mousa Dembele, Heung-min Son, Harry Kane and Vincent Janssen all scored in Spurs’ 4-0 win.
That leaves Mauricio Pochettino’s side only four points behind leaders Chelsea, with the Blues set to face Manchester United on Sunday.
But while Spurs had an afternoon to remember, Wilshere will be wanting to forget his.
The 25-year-old limped off in the 55th minute, much to the delight of Tottenham fans, given not only his Arsenal allegiance, but also his singing of the anti-Spurs songs when the Gunners won the FA Cup in 2014.
“It’s happened again, it’s happened again, Jack Wilshere, it’s happened again” rang out around the Lane as he swiftly departed down the tunnel.
Howe said after the game that he was unsure the extent of the injury to Wilshere’s left leg as he hadn’t spoken to the midfielder.
Until now, it had been Wilshere’s best season for injuries for three years, with the Spurs game his 28th Premier League appearance of the season, compared to nine the season before and 14 prior to that.
