Tottenham: Hugo Lloris steps up injury return with behind-closed-doors friendly against Ipswich

Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris returned to action in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Ipswich Town on Thursday night.

Lloris has not featured since sustaining a knee injury in last month’s 1-0 win over Manchester City but his appearance has raised hopes that the skipper could be fit to return when the run-in commences with the aforementioned trip to Goodison Park.

Fraser Forster has been handed a run in the first-team of late and was even called back into the England squad but Lloris is undoubtedly Spurs’ No.1.

Spurs remain fourth in the Premier League, but have played twice more than both Newcastle and Liverpool, their main rivals in the race for the final Champions League spot.

It remains unclear as to whether or not the World Cup winner will play for current manager Antonio Conte again.

Spurs hierarchy are understood to be weighing up their options following the Italian’s outburst away at Southampton before the international break and senior players do not expect him to be in the dugout at Everton.
