Sporting Lisbon’s Pedro Porro is Tottenham's top transfer target at wing-back but the Portuguese club are holding out for the player's full €45million (£39.5m) release clause.

Spurs boss Antonio Conte has made signing a new right wing-back the priority this month, with neither Emerson Royal nor Matt Doherty having convinced in the role so far.

Porro, 23, is admired by the club and played against them twice in this season's Champions League group stage but, as it stands, Sporting will not entertain negotiations for the one-cap Spain international mid-season, leaving Spurs needing to meet his release clause to sign him in January.

Conte also wants to bring in an extra attacking player this month after three consecutive matches without a forward on the bench due to injuries to Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison and Lucas Moura, while Spurs are currently working on a succession plan for goalkeeper and long-serving captain Hugo Lloris.
