Tottenham identify wantaway Liverpool man as key target as Levy looks to replace senior Spurs star
Tottenham will rival Premier League rivals Brentford and Brighton for Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, according to reports.
The Republic of Ireland international is highly rated but is well behind Alisson Becker in the pecking order. Now, he wants more regular first-team opportunities elsewhere.
Hugo Lloris will most likely leave Tottenham at the end of the season and it will be a big challenge for the London club to find an adequate replacement.
Indeed, Spurs have several top goalkeepers on their radar at the moment. For instance, Daniel Levy has reportedly put Inter Milan shot-stopper Andre Onana at the top of his transfer shortlist. Although, Spurs face competition from Chelsea.
Another potential option is Manchester United outcast Dean Henderson, while Brentford’s David Raya has been considered, too.
Clearly, replacing Lloris isn’t something Tottenham are taking lightly, and nor should they. Since joining the club back in 2012, the France international has made a whopping 447 appearances across all competitions.
In fact, he is widely regarded as Spurs’ best goalkeeper in the Premier League era – despite being shaky for the last couple of seasons.

Tottenham eye Kelleher swoop
According to the Irish Independent, Tottenham are ‘expected’ to join the race for Kelleher, who they believe has a promising future ahead of him.
As mentioned, the 24-year-old has struggled to break into Jurgen Klopp’s first team. But, when given the opportunity, he has generally performed well for Liverpool.
Most notably, Kelleher made four appearances in the Reds’ League Cup run in the 2021/22 season, which saw them lift the trophy.
Klopp has repeatedly hailed the Irishman as a top talent, too, so there is no doubting his quality. In fact, in November 2022, he pleaded with the keeper to stay at Anfield.
“Caoimh is an outstanding goalie, he’s our goalie, that’s absolutely great. A club like us, with all the games we have, needs a goalie of his quality, definitely,” Klopp said.
“It’s clear that he has the ambition to be a No. 1, but everything must be right.
“Being the No. 1 in the wrong club, all of a sudden you look like you’re not that good a goalie.
“Our style suits him very well, because he’s really calm on the ball as well, you can involve him in the build-up play. He’s like the blonde version of Ali.”
Nevertheless, Liverpool are ‘ready’ to let Kelleher leave if they receive a bid of £20m, as per the Irish Independent’s report.
So, if Tottenham want to get a deal done, Levy will have to put his money where his mouth is.
