Tottenham starlet Troy Parrott could join Sunderland on loan this summer over their north east rivals Middlesbrough, according to a Spurs insider.
The 20-year-old striker is currently in South Korea as part of Antonio Conte’s squad for their pre-season tour and was involved in their friendly win over Team K-League on Wednesday, playing the final 15 minutes.
However, the Republic of Ireland star is expected to be on the move again this summer.
The 20-year-old spent the last campaign on loan at MK Dons, scoring 10 goals in 46 games for the League One side.
And now Spurs insider John Wenham is tipping Parrott to join former Tottenham teammate Jack Clarke at the Stadium of Light.
Clarke moved to Wearside for £10million earlier this month after failing to make the breakthrough in north London.
And it looks like Parrott could follow in his footsteps, on loan.
Parrott a good fit for Sunderland
Wenham told Football Insider: “I can see Tory Parrott going to Sunderland.
“I know Sunderland do have interest in him. They have a big Scottish striker at the moment but the beauty of Troy is that he can drop in as a 10.
“He would get a lot of game time there. Sunderland are a very big, well-supported club and I think Troy would thrive off that audience, that crowd.
“It would be a very good signing for them. He would be linking up with some of his friends in Jack Clarke and Dennis Cirkin.
“I know they have lost Nathan Broadhead from Everton, they have not been able to bring him back.
“If we could get Troy there, playing every week, that would be good. I know Middlesbrough are also interested but personally, I would send him to Sunderland.”
Parrott has made four senior appearances for Tottenham, although two of those were two seasons ago.
