Tottenham could in fact sign Weston McKennie this summer, with Juventus reportedly declaring they are open to offers for the midfielder.

Spurs have enjoyed one of the best summer transfer windows of any Premier League team. Six signings down, they are ready to push on following last season’s top-four finish.

The focus is now understandably turning to outgoings, with Joe Rodon close to a move to Rennes. But there is yet more talk of further additions to Antonio Conte’s team.

And wing-back seemingly remains an issue for Tottenham, despite the additions of Ivan Perisic and Djed Spence.

Earlier this week, reports talked of a Spurs move for Juve’s USA international McKennie. He may be a midfielder, but Conte reportedly feels his versatility means he could become a wing-back option too.

The report added, though, that Paul Pogba’s knee injury meant Juve would instead choose to keep McKennie.

But according to the latest from 90min, Juve are still willing to sell the 23-year-old even with Pogba out for a while.

Furthermore, the Serie A side have set a €30million (£25million) valuation on McKennie, lower than the €40million (£30million) the earlier report claimed.

McKennie transfer fuelled by Juventus

90min adds further detail about why Juve are willing to lose McKennie – because they want an upgrade from Chelsea.

Indeed, the Turin club could go after the Italy international once they raise funds and clear a gap in their squad.

Jorginho has shone in the Premier League for Chelsea following his 2018 move from Napoli. However, he has one year left on his contract and it remains unclear if he will renew.

Should Juventus make their interest known, it could alter Stamford Bridge talks, with Chelsea aware they could lose him for free next summer if he does not want to renew terms.

Tottenham eye Juve star amid Zaniolo talks

It seems as though Conte and Tottenham director of football have made McKennie and Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo their two top targets for a final summer signing.

Conte reportedly sees both players fitting into his Spurs midfield – as well as at wing-back.

Reports have claimed Zaniolo’s fee stands at £42.5million, so McKennie would be the cheaper option.

Both players are 23, so there is no difference in terms of untapped potential and the longevity of their careers.

Tottenham have a decision to make as to who they go after. In any case, it seems at least one more signing could arrive at Spurs before the transfer window shuts.
