Italian side Bologna are sizing up a summer transfer move for Tottenham midfielder Erik Lamela.

Lamela is in the final 18 months of his contract at Spurs and Serie A outfit Bologna have confirmed they are looking into a deal to sign the 29-year-old Argentinian.

Bologna could lose AC Milan target Riccardo Orsolini in the summer and they have identified Lamela as the ideal replacement for him.

Lamela has been at Tottenham for eight years since joining from Roma in a deal worth £25.7million in 2013.

He has made 29 appearances for Tottenham this season but has made just five starts in the Premier League under Jose Mourinho this season.

Bologna sporting director Walter Sabatini has said they are considering a move to take Lamela back to Italy.

“Lamela is one of the names we are looking into,” said Sabatini. “We are trying to understand if there are possibilities to get there and there is no guarantee.

“Of course, should Orsolini leave, there would be no better substitute. We will see.”
