Tottenham player ratings vs Rangers with Werner dreadful as Forster and Kulusevski save the day
Tottenham Hotspur drew 1-1 with Rangers at Ibrox on Thursday night in the Europa League and here are our Spurs player ratings from the clash.
Postecoglou had to do without Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Guglielmo Vicario, Richarlison, Wilson Odobert, Ben Davies and Mikey Moore, and chose to rest Dominic Solanke, Pape Matar Sarr and Dejan Kulusevski from his starting line-up for the match at Ibrox. He made five changes to his team from the one that lost 4-3 to Chelsea and with another away day to Southampton on Sunday in mind.
After a physical first half lacking in quality from both sides it was the home team who scored early in the second period when Hamza Igamane half-volleyed home a deep cross from the right. Spurs grabbed an equaliser as two substitutes combined with Solanke finding Kulusevski in the box to hit a shot back across the keeper. Neither side could find a winner in the final minutes.
Here are our Tottenham player ratings from the draw at Ibrox.
Fraser Forster
Made a couple of comfortable saves in the first half. Couldn't get near Igamane's half-volley early in the second period. Made a crucial save from Dessers with five minutes of normal time remaining. 8
Pedro Porro
Another goal conceded from his area of the box as he chased back but couldn't get near it. Wasn't one of his best performances and he needs a rest. Surely Djed Spence gets some minutes this weekend for one of the full-backs. 5
Archie Gray
First start as a centre-back for the 18-year-old and on the whole he was solid, winning headers and decent with the ball at his feet. Was one of those who got turned inside out by Jeffers late on, but on the whole he did well for someone out of position and so young. 6
Radu Dragusin
Tried to guide Gray through the game and dealt with a lot of what came his way. 7
Destiny Udogie
Gave too much room for the cross for Rangers' early second half goal. A willing runner but without much quality at the end of it. 5
Rodrigo Bentancur
Was one of Spurs' better players in the first half but faded badly again in the second period. Came off after the hour mark. 5
Yves Bissouma
So weak in duels in the first half and he's struggling to make an impact in games right now. That's him out for a week now. 4
James Maddison
Struggled for openings and another game where he looked busy but didn't produce much where it mattered. 4
Brennan Johnson
Had a couple of chances in either half but he's struggling to find his form at the moment. Lost his runner leading to the cross for the Rangers goal 4
Son Heung-min
Playing through the middle, the captain sent an early soft effort at the keeper. Worked hard down the left but with little joy. 5
Timo Werner
Curled an early effort well over. Struggled to do anything of note after that with poor control and decision-making. Was hooked at half time. Pretty dreadful display. 2
Subs
Dejan Kulusevski
Took a while to get into the game but fired home the equaliser from Solanke's pass with a lovely finish. 7
Lucas Bergvall
Another tidy cameo and he's pushing for a start in this competition surely? 6
Pape Matar Sarr
Added some energy to a flagging midfield. 6
Dominic Solanke
Grabbed an assist with his ball across that Kulusevski finished well. Could have scored himself with a late header. 6
