Tottenham are reportedly ready to submit a ‘big offer’ for Brighton winger Leandro Trossard, who is looking to leave the AMEX this month, per a report.
Spurs boss Antonio Conte is keen on signing the attacker who has been a key player for the south coast club since signing for them in 2019.
Trossard’s current deal with the Seagulls is set to expire at the end of the season, so they will be keen to offload him while they can still recoup vital funds for their own business.
It has been widely reported that Trossard has fallen out with new Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi and has recently flown back to his home country Belgium amid ongoing transfer speculation.
The 28-year-old was also not in the squad for Brighton’s recent 3-0 win over Liverpool, which seems to have confirmed the rumours.
Despite featuring just twice for De Zerbi’s side since the World Cup break, Trossard has still been in impressive form this season.
In the Premier League, the Belgium international has scored seven goals in 16 league appearances this season, also contributing three assists. He memorably notched a hat-trick against Liverpool at Anfield earlier in the campaign.
This has helped the Seagulls get off to an excellent start, and they currently sit seventh in the table ahead of Sunday’s fixtures, just five points away from the top four.
However, after back-to-back victories over Everton and Liverpool without Trossard, it seems De Zerbi is not afraid to let the forward leave this winter.
Tottenham willing to splash the cash on Trossard this winter
According to Football Insider, Tottenham are ready to make a ‘big’ bid for Trossard as he looks for a way out of Brighton.
As mentioned, it was believed he could be a free agent at the end of the season. However, the club have the option to extend his stay at the Amex by 12 months and it has been suggested they have already done so in a ‘business decision,’ which will only add to his price tag.
The report adds that Trossard is ‘very keen’ to join a Champions League club, with Spurs leading the race amid interest from Chelsea. However, the Blues’ acquisition of Mykhaylo Mudryk will likely end their pursuit.
Indeed, Trossard could prove to be a valuable signing for Conte. Lucas Moura is expected to leave the club at the end of the season, while Richarlison is currently sidelined with an injury.
The Italian manager has previously made no secret over the fact that his current squad is not good enough to challenge for trophies, so Daniel Levy may be forced to table a big offer for Trossard, as reported.
No transfer fee is named in the report. Although, Transfermarkt value the Belgian at £30m. Therefore, an offer in excess of that amount would likely to be required for Spurs to get their man.
