Tottenham are one of two Premier League sides that are reportedly considering a late approach for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, as the Blues are considering letting him go for the right price.

Spurs have started the season in red-hot form. There are no signs of missing Harry Kane after he left for Bayern Munich, as in three Premier League games so far, the north London outfit have won twice and drawn once.

Yves Bissouma has been a revelation in the midfield, and Pape Sarr looks to be thriving alongside him. But Spurs seemingly want reinforcements, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg potentially on the way out alongside Giovani Lo Celso.

Chelsea man Gallagher is reportedly top of that list at the moment. Football Insider reports Tottenham are ‘expected to be active’ towards the end of the transfer window, and have an interest in the midfielder.

West Ham are also said to be preparing a late swoop, as per a subsequent Football Insider report. Either side might potentially be in luck, as it’s said Chelsea are ‘ready to consider’ letting Gallagher leave ‘for the right price’.

After a £40million bid was reportedly turned down earlier in the window, the fee would surely need to be above that.

It’s stated Gallagher ‘wants to stay and fight for his place’ at Stamford Bridge. He’s started every game for the Blues so far this season, and has only missed 15 minutes of the campaign, being subbed off at the back end of a 3-1 loss to the Hammers.

But Romeo Lavia is yet to be introduced into the side after a £58million deal, and Chelsea will obviously have plans for him to become central to the side after that move.

As such, that might well mean Gallagher’s role dwindles. Moises Caicedo has only just made his first start, too, so with two fresh faces in the mix, the midfielder might have much less opportunity soon than he does currently.

Of course, he’ll not know that until it happens, and given there’s less than a week remaining in the transfer window, either Tottenham or West Ham convincing him to move until he has a definitive answer over that seems unlikely.

He’ll not move on the pretence that he might have a lesser role soon, and there’s obviously a chance his minutes don’t drop considerably anyway.
