Tottenham are set to make their first offer for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, according to a new report. The England international has been a long-term target for Spurs with it having been clear for some time the Blues are looking to sell for what would be deemed pure profit from a financial fair play perspective.

Earlier this week, Aston Villa's first big Gallagher decision was made with preliminary talks held over a potential summer move, as per The Athletic. In the wake of that, it looks as though Tottenham have responded with the Mail claiming they are preparing an offer for Gallagher.

As football.london have reported in the last two windows, Tottenham hold a strong interest in Gallagher. The 24-year-old potentially arriving would also help the club's homegrown issues having just confirmed exits of Eric Dier, Japhet Tanganga and Ryan Sessegnon.

While Chelsea appear keen to sell Gallagher, the man himself does not appear to reflect the stance especially after a great season regularly captaining his boyhood club. "It’s really exciting," he told Sky Sports following England's 3-0 win against Bosnia and Herzegovina when asked about new Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca.

"I’ve heard and seen really good things. Myself and everyone at Chelsea are really excited to work with him. We want to get Chelsea back to where they belong so with the new manager we can progress to get where we belong."

Judging by Gallagher's recent comments, he fully expects to stay at Chelsea for the new season, however he finds himself in the exact same situation Mason Mount was in last summer. Talks over a new contract, with his current deal expiring next summer, are not taking place and thus the Blues want to sell over the next few months.

Mount eventually joined Manchester United for £65million but as Chelsea believe Gallagher is a better all-round player, they could demand a higher fee. However, as football.london understands, Chelsea want £50million to sell Gallagher.

Tottenham appear fully aware of Chelsea's financial concerns and their need to sell which could see Ange Postecoglou strike quite the bargain.
