Tottenham are being tipped to take advantage of a Premier League star’s fractured relationship with his current manager.

Antonio Conte is expected to be active in the next two transfer windows, should he agree to extend his stay in north London, and one of the positions he knows eventually needs attention is the goalkeeper situation.

Hugo Lloris has had an inconsistent campaign so far, excelling at times but making glaring errors at others.

At 35, Lloris is very much in the twilight of his career. To that end, Conte is well aware he needs to have one eye on the future.

Several names have been tipped to replace the France skipper, including the likes of Everton’s Jordan Pickford, Brighton star Robert Sanchez and Leeds stopper Illan Meslier.

However, Spanish outlet Fichajes states that Spurs are actually eyeing a deal for Argentine international Emiliano Martinez.

The report claims that Martinez might be leaving current club Aston Villa sooner rather than later.

His relationship with new Villa Park chief Unai Emery is still said to be fractured from their time at Arsenal.

Martinez has arguably been one of Villa’s best players since he quit the Emirates for Villa Park in 2020.

And while his form has not quite been at the top level this season, his current contract still runs until 2027.

The 30-year-old is also first-choice for his country and has guided Argentina to the last 16 of the World Cup.

Fichajes adds that Tottenham will be watching the stopper’s performances in Qatar ahead of a potential swoop.

And while Martinez will not come cheap, Spurs recognize the importance of signing a new No.1 soon.

As for Lloris, the veteran keeper is looking for another World Cup crown after leading France to glory in Russia four years ago.

Les Bleus will face Poland in the last 16, with a potential quarter-final against England on the cards.

That could mean Lloris going head-to-head with Spurs teammate Harry Kane, if the Three Lions see off Senegal on Sunday.

As for Tottenham, they are not back in action until Boxing Day when they head to Brentford.
