Richarlison is the “perfect” signing for Tottenham boss Antonio Conte, according to the man who brought him to English football.

Filippo Giraldi worked as Watford’s chief scout before taking up the role of sporting director in the summer of 2017, just as the Brazilian left Fluminense to sign for the Hornets.

Richarlison has since gone on to star for Watford and Everton before his recent £50m move to north London to link up with Conte. And the 25-year-old’s ability to ride challenges and fight for the ball will enamour him in the eyes of his new coach, says Giraldi.

“It was a quick negotiation which I insisted on a lot,” he told TuttoMercatoWeb.

“While scouting him, I was struck by his athleticism, his ability to hold off blows. The more you hit him, the higher he stays. That’s perfect for Conte.

“He is tenacious, he has character. We took him for £10m and sold for £50m, the second sale was even higher.

“He is always a pleasure. He combines strength with determination, he is strong and perfect for Conte.”
