Tottenham set to rival Arsenal for Borussia Dortmund midfield maestro; as cut-price valuation revealed
Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are both interested in making a move for Borussia Dortmund playmaker Julian Brandt, according to reports.
With the Germany international’s contract set to expire in June 2024, the 26-year-old could potentially be available on a cut-price deal this summer.
Brandt could prove to be an excellent addition for one of the North London duo, so it will be interesting to see if either do make an offer in the coming months.
According to German outlet Bild, the midfielder could be available for just £25m at the end of the campaign, which would represent a major bargain.
Tottenham are currently battling to secure a spot in the top four but recently dropped three points in a 1-0 loss to Wolves on Saturday.
Antonio Conte has previously said that the Spurs squad isn’t good enough to challenge for major trophies, so bringing in Brandt would be a step in the right direction, especially given they don’t have a natural attacking midfielder in their ranks.
Arsenal, on the other hand, could look to bring in their own new number 10, with Emile Smith Rowe being linked with a shock departure.
With that in mind, both London giants could push hard to pen a deal for Brandt this summer.

Tottenham and Arsenal prepare for Brandt bidding war
Since joining Dortmund in 2019, Brandt has made 158 appearances across all competitions for the German giants, scoring 29 goals and making 30 assists, giving him an impressive average of 0.37 goal contributions per game.
A versatile player, Brandt has the ability to play as an attacking midfielder, or as a winger on either flank, so he could provide cover in multiple areas for Tottenham or Arsenal.
So far, he has helped Dortmund to one DFB-Pokal cup victory and two second-place finishes in the Bundesliga, so he could help bring a winning mentality to one of the Premier League clubs.
This season, the midfield maestro has maintained his spot as one of Dortmund’s most important players, having scored nine goals and providing five assists in 31 games overall this term.
Brandt is also a regular in Germany’s national team, picking up 39 caps since his first call-up back in 2016.
Dortmund would ideally prefer to extend Brandt’s contract, but with the player seemingly reluctant to do so, they may be forced to sell him this summer to ensure he doesn’t leave on a free contract.
As a result, if he does fail to pen an extension, Tottenham and Arsenal could enter into a bidding war for Brandt’s services this summer.
