Tottenham have informed Leeds United that they are ready to make a bid for Arsenal target Raphinha, according to reports.

The Brazilian joined Leeds from French side Rennes in 2020 for £17m and has contributed an impressive 17 goals and 12 assists over his two seasons at Elland Road.

Raphinha has two years remaining on his deal at Leeds, meaning the Yorkshire club are in a good position when it comes to getting their full valuation this summer.

Differing reports have claimed that Leeds have set their asking price anywhere from £50m to £60m for the attacker, who has picked up nine caps for Brazil since joining the Elland Road outfit.

Arsenal made their first bid for Raphinha yesterday as they look to make a positive start to the new transfer window with Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus also one of their top targets.

And now reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Tottenham have ‘told Leeds they want to make a bid’ for Raphinha, while new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly ‘explored situation’ for the Blues.

The Athletic journalist David Ornstein has also written a fresh report on Wednesday morning and has confirmed that Arsenal’s bid has now been rejected by Leeds, as expected.

Interest from the Gunners ‘remains strong’ but the fact they are only playing in the Europa League next season, and not the Champions League, could count against them with Chelsea understood to be Raphinha’s ‘preferred destination’.

Despite what Romano said about Spurs being ready to make an offer for Raphinha, Ornstein claims that ‘he is not Tottenham’s first-choice option’ in that position.

Ornstein adds: ‘It is understood that Leeds no longer anticipate Raphinha accepting a new contract — something that appeared to be on the cards midway through the season — and although he has not directly asked for a transfer, it is no secret that he sees himself playing in European competition.’
