Tottenham are reportedly plotting a move for PSG midfielder Leandro Paredes and are hoping to tempt the Ligue 1 giants into a swap deal involving Japhet Tanganga.

The north London side are not done with their summer recruitment, despite already making six impressive additions to Antonio Conte’s squad, and are known to want a creative midfielder and potentially another centre-back.

Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet and Djed Spence have all arrived so far.

There are strong reports that Udinese left-back Destiny Udogie is also close to a deal. However, he is expected to be loaned back to the Serie A side for this season.

As well as Tottenham have done recruiting players this summer, they also have several names they are looking to offload.

Chief among them is record signing Tanguy Ndombele, while Giovani Lo Celso, Sergio Reguilon and Harry Winks are also expected to move on.

As for Tanganga, his potential exit is somewhat surprising given he is a homegrown talent.

The centre-back, who can also play full-back, impressed when he first came into the side. However, he’s struggled with injuries in recent times and it looks like Spurs are ready to cut their losses.

And calciomercatoweb.it claims that Conte and sporting director Fabio Paratici have hatched a plan involving the defender.

The report states that Tottenham could move for Argentine Paredes, with Tanganga offered as bait.

PSG are known to be in the market for a new central defender, with AC Milan target Tanganga a potential option.

Paredes more of the same for Tottenham

As for Paredes, the midfielder wants more game time after making just 15 Ligue 1 appearances last season.

The 28-year-old is more of a defensive-minded player though, despite being good in possession and strong passer, and Spurs have them in abundance.

Bissouma, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentacur and Oliver Skipp are all options for Conte in that role.

If anything, Tottenham need a playmaker to help feed their incredible front three.

Spurs begin the new campaign against Southampton on Saturday when, ironically, they will be without two midfielders.

Both Oliver Skipp and Bissouma are expected to miss the game through injury.
