Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele reportedly has fresh transfer interest from Galatasaray, but the Turkish club only want a loan deal.

The Frenchman arrived in north London in 2019 as one of Mauricio Pochettino’s final signings as manager. And while he impressed under the Argentine, he has failed to settle thereafter.

Indeed, he endured rocky relationships with Jose Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo. Current boss Antonio Conte, though, allowed Ndombele to leave on loan immediately after joining in November.

Ndombele subsequently spent the second half of last season on loan at Lyon, from where Tottenham signed him.

But upon his return to Spurs, his future in Conte’s team looks even bleaker. As a result, Tottenham are ready to see the back of him in a permanent deal.

According to Media Foot, Galatasaray have come forward with interest in recent days.

The Turkish club want a new midfield general following a 13th-placed finish in the league last season – and they think they can revive Ndombele’s career at the same time.

Galatasaray are currently looking for a loan deal because they cannot afford the €50million (£42.5million) fee Spurs want for the midfielder.

Ndombele is still Spurs’ club-record signing at £53.8million. They accept that his downturn in form means they cannot recoup all of that money, but chairman Daniel Levy wants as much as possible back.

Indeed, Media Foot claims Spurs have warned that they ‘refuse to let him go cheaply’.

As such, Tottenham may be inclined to demand a permanent deal – or at least a decent loan-to-buy deal – from Galatasaray or his other suitors.

They can still demand something of a premium fee given that Ndombele has three years left on his contract. Spurs would therefore be better off selling this summer to avoid losing even more of their investment.

Ndombele needs Tottenham summer exit

Similarly, Ndombele needs to leave Tottenham to get his career back on track.

Conte not only shipped him out on loan in January but then began to shape his midfield in his mould with Juventus’ Rodrigo Bentancur.

Yves Bissouma has also now joined Spurs’ midfield, making Ndombele’s chances of reviving his Tottenham career almost impossible.

The 25-year-old, who has seven France caps, is still young enough to get back to peak form ahead of his prime.

The issue for Spurs, though, is that they must get as much money back for him as possible. And that looks like it will be easier said than done.
