It might be early June but that's no reason for a spell of piece and quiet at Tottenham Hotspur ahead of Ange Postecoglou's second season at the club.

On Thursday the Australian lost his assistant head coach Chris Davies after the talented 39-year-old coach was snapped up by Birmingham City to become their new manager following their relegation to League One. Postecoglou will now have to decide whether to bring in a new assistant or promote from within and he has until pre-season begins in just over three weeks to make that call. also revealed this week that Tottenham have taken up the option to extend Joe Rodon's contract by its final year rather than seeing the Wales international released this summer. That might be a surprise for some with the centre-back not part of Postecoglou's plans for next season and set to depart, but the move will ensure Spurs get a transfer fee for the 26-year-old rather than lose him for nothing at the end of this month.

After an impressive season at Leeds on loan, playing around 60 games for club and country, there is expected to be plenty of interest in Rodon.

It's not just about outgoing players though as Spurs are also expected to get involved in the transfer race for Conor Gallagher should the £50million-rated Chelsea midfielder be forced to leave the Blues due to their financial fair play problems.

Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid have also been linked with the 24-year-old England international and our Tottenham correspondents Alasdair Gold and Rob Guest discussed Gallagher and all of the news around the north London club in the latest episode of their podcast Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham.
