Tottenham vs Leeds LIVE!

Antonio Conte registered a first Premier League win in charge of Tottenham as they came from behind to beat Leeds 2-1.

Conte, who oversaw two games before the international break, watched his new side booed off at half-time after falling behind to Dan James’ strike.

But a much-improved second-half performance saw goals from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Sergio Reguilon earn the three points and end a three-game winless run.

Hojbjerg’s strike was Tottenham’s first in the Premier League since Heung-min Son scored at Newcastle in early October, well over four hours of action, and there is still plenty of work to be done by Conte and his coaching staff.

But the win moved them up to seventh, just four points off the top four, and with Manchester United sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday morning, the Spurs hierarchy will be pleased they made the move to get Conte three weeks ago.

Here’s how the action unfolded with Standard Sport’s LIVE blog

Sergio Reguilon talking to Sky after the match, and he’s still out of breath.

He got subbed off with 10 minutes to go too!

Conte off the mark

18:29 , Matt Verri

18:22 , Matt Verri

Tottenham have won it, and Conte erupts on the touchline!

Had to come from behind, but Spurs eventually get it done. Hojbjerg and Reguilon the surprise scorers.

18:21 , Matt Verri

90+4 mins: Sessegnon has the ball in the net ... unfortunately for Spurs, there were at least two different offsides in the build-up.

18:20 , Matt Verri

90+3 mins: Poor from Kane to shoot from 30 yards, and give Leeds the chance to counter.

And again. Spurs have numbers breaking, but Kane runs straight into the defender.

18:18 , Matt Verri

90 mins: Four minutes added on, for Spurs to hold on for victory.

18:16 , Matt Verri

89 mins: Conte urges the crowd to make some noise, and they respond. He’s desperate to get his side through these last few minutes.

18:15 , Matt Verri

87 mins: Llorente gets away from Son well, but his ball is a poor one and Spurs can wind down the clock.

Lucas Moura off, as Conte makes his final sub. Dele Alli on in his place.

18:12 , Matt Verri

84 mins: Dan James has been really bright all match. Moves the ball onto his left foot and takes the shot early, but it’s straight at Lloris.

Sessegnon then gets played in out wide for Spurs, but his cross has too much on it.

Rare outing for Sessegnon...

18:10 , Matt Verri

18:09 , Matt Verri

81 mins: Sanchez going flying into every header. Maybe trying to impress Conte, who was just yards away as the defender won his latest aerial duel.

18:06 , Matt Verri

78 mins: Space opens up for Lucas to cut inside, and he shoots but it’s over the bar. Kane not happy he didn’t get the pass.

Reguilon off for Spurs, and Sessegnon on in his place.

18:02 , Matt Verri

75 mins: Leeds pushing for an equaliser. Dan James tries to curl an effort into the far corner, but Lloris saves.

Davinson Sanchez, on for Tanganga, is being tested by Harrison on the left wing.

Dan Kilpatrick at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

17:59 , Matt Verri

Spurs’ first half performance would not have looked out of place under Nuno Espirito Santo but they’ve showed impressive spirit to turn the game on its head since half-time – epitomised by Reguilon’s desire to get to the rebound first.

17:59 , Matt Verri

71 mins: Leeds straight up the other end. Forshaw puts the ball into the box, and Gelhardt shoots as he swivels.

Ball definitely hit Kane’s arm, but he was very close. VAR checking... no penalty.

GOAL! Tottenham 2-1 Leeds | Sergio Reguilon 69'

17:56 , Matt Verri

Eric Dier it was who took the free-kick. His shot is deflected off the wall, hits the post, and Reguilon is following in to tap home.

An unlikely source, but Spurs won’t care!

17:54 , Matt Verri

67 mins: Another foul, another yellow card. Cooper trips Lucas right on the edge of the box, and that’s a free-kick.

Kane will fancy this one...

17:53 , Matt Verri

65 mins: Forshaw into the book after fouling Kane. The Spurs man had been five opportunities to pass the ball, but eventually went to ground under the contact.

17:52 , Matt Verri

64 mins: Dier clips a ball through to Davies... he pokes an effort at goal as his falls forward, but the keeper saves.

Spurs want a penalty, but there’s not enough contact. Phillips shoots from inside his own half, but that won’t be troubling Lloris.

17:50 , Matt Verri

62 mins: Ball over the top is aimed towards Reguilon, but just too much on it and Meslier can gather.

All Spurs since the goal, Leeds being pushed back.

Dan Kilpatrick at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

17:48 , Matt Verri

Spurs have been far more dangerous since the interval while Leeds were starting to looked ragged. Their goal has come at a good time, lifting the crowd before frustration could really set in.

GOAL! Tottenham 1-1 Leeds | Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg 58'

17:46 , Matt Verri

Lucas Moura and Harry Kane almost get in each other’s way as a cross comes in, and the Brazilian keeps the attack going.

He lays it back to Hojbjerg, whose scuffed effort is enough to get past Meslier. GAME ON.

17:45 , Matt Verri

57 mins: Spurs looking more dangerous, but so are Leeds.

Gelhardt has an effort parried away by Lloris, before James’s shot is blocked. Visitors keep the pressure on though... another Gelhardt shot, another Lloris save.

17:43 , Matt Verri

55 mins: Really good decision from the referee, definitely not a penalty.

Spurs will hope to see more of Kane and Son linking up like that though.

17:42 , Matt Verri

54 mins: Lucas has space to run in to, tries to play in Kane, but the striker wasn’t looking and hadn’t made the run.

Kane then slides in Son... is it a penalty?! NO. Looked like the Spurs man had been hacked down, but nothing given.

17:39 , Matt Verri

51 mins: Spurs hit the bar!

Lucas clips a ball into the box, Son chests it and then tries to hammer it across goal. It deflects off a defender, and smashes against the bar and away. Much, much better already.

Dan Kilpatrick at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

17:37 , Matt Verri

Spurs’ run of 272 minutes without a shot on target is finally over as Kane’s effort is saved by Meslier at the start of the second half! Leeds have also gone close since the interval, though, James testing Lloris.

17:37 , Matt Verri

50 mins: Two more corners for Leeds... they’ve already had four in the second-half.

Falls to the edge of the area. Winks does well to hack it clear, with three Leeds players coming onto it ready to have a shot.

17:35 , Matt Verri

48 mins: But then Leeds go up the other end and nearly score. James pokes an effort towards the far corner, and Lloris parries it behind.

Spurs make a mess of defending it, luckily doesn’t fall to a Leeds player. They get another corner. Taken short, but well defended by Winks.

17:33 , Matt Verri

46 mins: A SHOT ON TARGET!

It only takes 30 seconds. Lucas Moura plays Kane in, and Meslier does really well to smother the shot. Corner Spurs. Keeper out to claim it.

Back underway

17:32 , Matt Verri

Six successive halves of football without a shot in target in the league.

Tottenham need a huge improvement in this second half.

We’re back underway!

Leeds in front

17:24 , Matt Verri

Dan Kilpatrick at the Tottenham Stadium

17:20 , Matt Verri

Spurs booed off at half-time after 45 minutes which offered another reminder of the scale of the job facing Conte.

Another half with no shots on target and little in the way of cohesion and Leeds deserve their lead.

17:17 , Matt Verri

Well then, over to you Antonio.

Tottenham with a poor first-half. They’ve let Leeds dominate possession, and they’ve offered almost nothing from an attacking perspective.

Crowd boo the players off.

GOAL! Tottenham 0-1 Leeds | Dan James 44'

17:15 , Matt Verri

Can’t say they don’t deserve it!

Harrison in the down the left wing, as he has been so many times already, and he whips in a brilliant low cross into the six-yard box.

Dan James is there in the middle to fire it home into the empty net. Leeds ahead.

17:11 , Matt Verri

41 mins: Forshaw lets fly from distance... just wide. Caught that really well, and Lloris looked worried.

Struijk down again, after being caught by a bit of a hack from Royal.

Dan Kilpatrick at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

17:11 , Matt Verri

Conte was absolutely furious as Reguilon misses an easy pass to Royal who was in space in the box. The head coach turned to his bench and yelled in frustration.

17:10 , Matt Verri

40 mins: That was a big chance for Spurs... Regulion cutting inside, and Royal is on the right wing in so much space. Had the Spaniard played it across, he would have been in.

But Reguilon either didn’t see him or just ignored the option. Wasted opportunity.

17:09 , Matt Verri

38 mins: Well over four hours since Tottenham last had a shot on target in the league.

They haven’t come particularly close to having one yet either. Kane has looked bright dropping deep, but very little of Son and Lucas.

17:06 , Matt Verri

36 mins: Struijk goes down off the ball, and will need some treatment. Looks like he’s going to be fine to continue though.

17:05 , Matt Verri

34 mins: Game has become frantic now. Space for both sides to attack, but neither team are finding the required final ball yet.

17:02 , Matt Verri

32 mins: Brilliant defending from Cooper.

Spurs a bit more aggressive in the tackle, and they play it wide to Reguilon. He clips a really nice ball into the box, and Cooper just gets a flick on it, with Kane waiting behind him to head home.

17:00 , Matt Verri

30 mins: Spurs have been at their best when Kane drops deep to receive the ball and spreads the play.

Plenty of fouls in this game so far, and Gelhardt will go into the book. Dier came driving out with the ball, and the Leeds man slid in and brought him down.

Dan Kilpatrick at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

16:58 , Matt Verri

Spurs are growing into the game and enjoying more possession but there are groans from the crowd every time they play backwards. Winks and Hojbjerg are neat and tidy but they’re missing a player who can break the lines and unlock Leeds.

16:58 , Matt Verri

27 mins: Kane tries to find room for the shot in the box, but he gets crowded out and has to lay it off. Comes wide to Royal, and he wins a corner for Spurs.

Meslier twice comes out to try and claim a ball into the box, and isn’t convincing either time. His defenders do the job for him.

16:55 , Matt Verri

25 mins: Winks gives it away in his own half, and Leeds have numbers to break. Klich opts not to shoot and passes it wide to James instead, but his cross is cut out in the box.

Spurs not looking comfortable in possession.

16:52 , Matt Verri

22 mins: Tottenham’s best moment. Son is far too quick on the right wing, and he bursts away from the Leeds defence.

Low cross into the box, but Kane can’t quite control it as he falls backwards, and Phillips is there to stop the shot.

16:51 , Matt Verri

21 mins: Frustration from the Spurs fans as their side passes it backwards. They try and go the other way, but lose possession.

Harrison goes down in the box, but there’s no contact there.

Dan Kilpatrick at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

16:49 , Matt Verri

An animated Conte appears to urging his players to push forward from the edge of his technical area. They’ve barely got out of their half in the opening 15 minutes, which has seen the visitors dominate the ball.

16:49 , Matt Verri

18 mins: Comes to Reguilon, but his right-footed strike is blocked. Home side gradually growing into this after a slow start, but still need to improve.

16:48 , Matt Verri

17 mins: Kane fires a pass out wide to Reguilon, and his cross isn’t too far away from reaching Son.

The Spurs striker drops deep again, this time to spread it wide to Royal, and Tottenham win a corner.

16:45 , Matt Verri

14 mins: Harrison gets to the byline after a one-two deceives Royal, but the cutback is intercepted before it can get to Dan James in the box.

The Spurs wing-back then gives away a soft corner to Leeds, who have been by far the better side. Corner is worked back to Gelhardt, but his effort is a wild one.

16:42 , Matt Verri

12 mins: First real sign of a Spurs attack, and it comes from Kane dropping deep. Royal gets well forward, but Leeds get enough bodies back to crowd him out.

Son then makes a run in behind, but he’s offside.

16:40 , Matt Verri

10 mins: Harrison again on the left wing, and he wins a corner for his side.

Kane wins the header in the box to get it away. Lucas Moura does really well to break for Spurs, but his pass to Son is cut out.

Dan Kilpatrick at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

16:39 , Matt Verri

Leeds are missing a host of key players but they have started the game with an impressive intensity which has quickly subdued the home crowd. Dallas was within a whisker of opening the scoring with a fierce low drive.

16:38 , Matt Verri

7 mins: Leeds very close to taking the lead!

Harrison volleys a nice ball into the box, and it’s cleared away. It comes to Dallas, who pings an effort from outside the box, and it skids just wide.

16:34 , Matt Verri

4 mins: All Leeds in the early stages, Tottenham happy to sit back for now and let them have the ball.

Kalvin Phillips playing really deep, effectively in the defence.

16:32 , Matt Verri

2 mins: Leeds on the attack straight away, and they have a dangerous free-kick. Gelhardt brought down on the edge of the box.

Phillips and Harrison standing over it. It’s Phillips... comfortable enough save for Lloris.

We’re off!

16:30 , Matt Verri

Action underway at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Plenty of excitement in the stands... it’s up to the Spurs players to use that on the pitch.

16:27 , Matt Verri

Players are out, Harry Kane leading his side onto the pitch.

Seven goals against Albania and San Marino over the international break... he’ll be hoping that can help fire his club form into action too.

Ten minutes to go

15:13 , Giuseppe Muro

Tottenham will be looking for something of a statement performance to properly kickstart their time under Antonio Conte, and will recognise that they cannot afford to cede too much further ground to their top-four rivals if they are serious about Champions League qualification this season.

While Leeds could cause a defence still adjusting to a new system problems, particularly if Cristian Romero is ruled out, a first Premier League win for Spurs under their new manager may just be on the cards.

Tottenham 3-2 Leeds

Head to head history and results

15:01 , Giuseppe Muro

Tottenham wins: 37

Draws: 29

Leeds wins: 33

Early team news

14:55 , Giuseppe Muro

Spurs suffered a potential double injury blow during the international break, with news of a hamstring injury suffered by centre-half Cristian Romero following Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s absence from Denmark’s fixture against Scotland.

Romero will be assessed on his return to the club but is considered a major doubt. An injury to Hojbjerg would cause real issues for Antonio Conte, who is already without the suspended Oliver Skipp, who has started the Italian’s first two games in charge alongside the Dane in midfield, for the visit of Leeds.

In better news for Conte, Ryan Sessegnon is back in training and could soon replenish Tottenham’s left-wing-back options, while Bryan Gil has returned, too.
