Manager Antonio Conte has opted not to heavily rotate for Saturday’s visit to Manchester City as he picks his XI for the French side, who are, on paper at least, the easiest of Spurs’ group stage opponents after coming from Pot 4.
Clement Lenglet was assured on debut in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Fulham and keeps his place on the left of the back three, while Ivan Perisic comes in for for Ryan Sessegnon at left wing-back in the only change.
Conte has been curiously reluctant to play Matt Doherty at the start of this season and Emerson Royal once again keeps his place.
Conte rested Dejan Kulusevski against Fulham, with Richarlison catching the eye on his full debut, and the Brazilian starts again against Marseille, with Heung-min Son also in the side as he looks for his first goal of the season.
Conte’s only fitness concern is Lucas Moura, who remains sidelined with a tendon injury.
“Moura is not still available,” Conte said on Tuesday. “I think tomorrow he starts to have a training session on the pitch.
“He has this inflammation in his tendon and I hope to recover him very soon because especially up front we need him.”
Tottenham XI: Lloris, Romero, Dier, Lenglet, Emerson, Hojbjerg, Bentancur, Perisic, Son, Richarlison, Kane.
Subs: Forster, Doherty, Spence, Tanganga, Sanchez, Davies, Sessegnon, Skipp, Sarr, Bissouma, Bryan, Kulusevski.
