West Brom Fan View: Why the next two games are VITAL for the Baggies

The performance against West Ham typified everything that’s good about West Brom’s squad, and highlighted the reasons why we’ve had such a successful season.

First, the quality of the opening goal, a fine touch and finish from Nacer Chadli, shows we have players who can produce moments of real quality. As Salomon Rondon, Matt Phillips and James Morrison have proved with their strong seasons.

Second, the resilience and desire running throughout our squad can be seen in the actions of our two central defenders. Both going for the same ball trying to equalise late on, we are a team who are hard to beat and who never give up.

At this point in the season, things couldn’t be better for the Baggies. Sitting eighth in the table with a five point cushion to ninth, unbeaten in the last four league games and have lost just once in seven, its turning into one hell of a season.

It could get even better too, because our next two games are at home against teams who we should expect to beat. First up is Bournemouth, who’ve looked impressive but are leaking goals in recent games and haven’t won in six, whilst Crystal Palace are stuck in the bottom three and have conceded five goals in their last two games, scoring none.

These next two games seem even more important when you look at some of the fixtures we have coming up. After the Palace game, we have three games in a row where we face teams above us in the table, with clashes against Everton, Arsenal and Manchester United up next.

And we still have to play Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea before the end of the season, although we also have to play against Leicester, Burnley and Swansea, but they will be fighting for their lives, trying to secure Premier League survival.

If we could win the next two games, it could soften the blow thats about to come, although we aren’t an easy game for anyone at the moment!
