Toulouse head coach Sylvain Houles says his team will not give up on their Super League survival fight following their defeat to Hull KR.

The French outfit fell to a 22-16 loss at Craven Park on Thursday night, despite holding a 16-6 early in the second half.

With 10 minutes to go his side lost the lead as Rovers fought back to win. Frankie Halton scored the leveller before Rowan Milnes scored the winner on 75 minutes.

Houles admitted: “They pushed us out and in the end they found the tries to beat us.”

On the try that levelled the game, Houles added: “That try hurt us. We left a lot of energy in that one.”

But Houles vowed his side will fight on as Toulouse remain at the bottom of the Super League table. He added: “We have been under pressure since the beginning (of the season). We must do it. There are five games left and as long as there is something to play for we will try.”

Danny McGuire hails returning Shaun Kenny-Dowall

Hull KR interim head coach Danny McGuire praised captain Shaun Kenny-Dowall for his man-of-the-match performance on his return.

The centre had been sidelined since the side’s win 15-10 over Wakefield due to throat injury.

Kenny-Dowall, 34, earned praise from his boss for his display after Rovers had trailed 12-6 at half-time but showed spirit to turn the match around.

McGuire said of Kenny-Dowall: “I thought he was sensational. He’s tough, the injury he’s had, a normal person is still on the sidelines.

“He put his hand up, every time we were looking around he put his hand up. He carries the team on his back at times.

“He goes out there and delivers on the field. That’s the biggest plaudit.

He added: “I have to give Toulouse credit, I thought they played well. They challenged us physically in the middle. We just hung in there. You have to keep fighting.”
