Tour of Britain returns to Scotland

Scotland has been included in the itinerary for the 2012 Tour of Britain, with the third stage to run between Jedburgh and Dumfries.

The UK's biggest professional cycling race will return to Dumfries a year after Mark Cavendish claimed victory there - his first of two stage wins.

Rabobank's Lars Boom won the general classification last year.

The trip to Scotland comprises one of eight stages on this year's race, which begins in Ipswich in mid-September.

Nottingham, Carlisle, Devon, Guildford, Welshpool and Stoke have also been chosen to host some action.
