Georgia Kousoulou has been speaking about why it was so important for her and fiancé Tommy Mallet to continue filming their reality series Baby Steps after sadly losing their unborn child, saying the experience was like "therapy" for her.

Baby Steps is now in its fourth series, and partway through filming, the TOWIE stars announced that sadly, they had learned at their 12-week scan that their baby had not survived.

Georgia was interviewed on Steph's Packed Lunch on Thursday (June 1), where she shared more about the emotions the couple had experienced, and why they took the decision to complete series four of the show.

"It happened as I was filming, and obviously we started the series announcing the pregnancy and then it took a turn, but looking back now I feel like it's therapy, it's been the best thing in a way," Georgia said.

"We decided to carry on filming because there was a time when I was like, 'Do we stop the cameras or do we carry on?', but me and Tommy have always said that we will always show the good and the bad – you can't just show the good, it's not real life.

"We always promised that, so we decided to carry on and it's made me talk about it, really open up and be put in awkward, uncomfortable chats that maybe I probably wouldn't have. I probably would have just stayed in bed and not dealt with it.

"I feel like I'm in a better headspace now, it's definitely helped me I think."

Georgia added that she felt she and Tommy might have simply "buried our heads" and not allowed themselves the space for their emotions, had it not been for their commitment to completing the series.

"When you're grieving, there's no right or wrong way to deal with it, and obviously, we've never been in that situation before, so we didn't really know how to deal with it," she recalled.

"And we probably wouldn't have spoken about it, we'd have maybe either buried our heads or just put it to the back [of their minds].

"I just feel like we've done the right thing because I definitely think it's helped me and Tommy. I can see a clearer vision now; at the time my head was just so blurred."

Georgia added that the couple's 2-year-old son Brody has given her an added sense of determination.

"He's saved my life, he doesn't even know, he's only two, but he has been the best thing that has ever happened to us," she said.

"If I didn't have Brody I definitely would have been in bed more, but he's got me up and made us carry on because I wouldn't want to show him that I'm sad, because he doesn't understand."
