BURNLEY are in talks to sign Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst, according to reports.
The Clarets are keen to bolster their striking department following Chris Wood’s £25 million move to Newcastle.
Weghorst is interested in a move to the Premier League and being a club’s first-choice striker, according to The Athletic.
The 29-year-old – who stands at 6ft 6in – has a prolific record for the German outfit, having scored 59 goals in 188 games.
He also plays for the Netherlands and featured at the European Championships last summer, scoring in a 3-2 win against Ukraine in the group stage.
Burnley are also said to be confident of landing Dinamo Zagreb star Mislav Orsic before the transfer window closes.
The Clarets have reportedly agreed a £7 million fee for the Croatian international, who can play on the left wing or in a central role.
Sean Dyche’s men sit at the foot of the table despite holding Arsenal to a goalless draw at the Emirates Stadium last weekend.
However, they have several games in hand on the sides around them after having multiple games postponed due to Covid cases and injuries.
Burnley are back in action on Saturday, February 5 when they welcome Watford to Turf Moor (KO 6pm).
