Man Utd have joined the race to sign a Bundesliga striker this summer, while Bayern Munich are looking for a ‘quick agreement’ for a Liverpool star…

MAN UTD ENTER LEWY RACE
Man Utd have entered the race to sign Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich this summer, according to reports.

The Poland international has made it clear that he wants to leave the German club this summer after admitting that “something died inside” him. His contract expires next summer at the Allianz Arena and Bayern haven’t yet a agreed a deal to allow him to leave.

It was thought that Barcelona had wrapped up a deal to sign the prolific striker, while Man Utd and Chelsea have been mooted as possible alternative destinations. And now The Sun claims that the Red Devils ‘will join the race’ for Lewandowski ‘if his dream move to Barcelona falls flat’.

The 33-year-old has ‘his heart set on a move to the Nou Camp’ this summer but the Catalan giants need to ‘shift some of their high earners’ before being able to complete a move. The Sun add that his ‘chances of signing look doomed, even though the fee would be a maximum of £20m’.

Man Utd ‘are one of the few’ Premier League clubs not to be put off his huge wages as they eye ‘a similar deal to the one which took Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford last year’.

BAYERN LOOKING TO GET SERIOUS
The possible departure of Lewandowski has Bayern worried and they could now ramp up their efforts to seal a deal for Liverpool forward Sadio Mane, according to reports.

It was claimed on Saturday that the Reds have now ‘reached a full verbal agreement’ with Benfica for the signing of Darwin Nunez, with that deal likely to pave the way for Mane’s exit this summer. The Senegal international has told the Liverpool hierarchy that he wants to leave Anfield this summer and Bayern seem to be the main club chasing his signature.

Liverpool have already turned down two offers from the German giants for Mane with their second offer reaching €27.5m plus €7.5m in add ons – but the Premier League side are looking for €45m. And German newspaper Bild (via Sport Witness) claims that Mane ‘impressed’ Bayern during talks over a contract as he expressed a willingness to play in any position.

Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidzic is now prepared to fly into England to seal a deal with the Bundesliga outfit keen to get a ‘quick agreement’. Sky Germany, meanwhile, insists the likelihood of a deal being completed soon is ‘increasing’ despite a €10m difference in their valuation of the player, with Liverpool ‘prepared to hand over’ the forward.

AND THE REST…
Tottenham are in advanced negotiations to sign Everton forward Richarlison for £51m…Chelsea have been given a transfer boost after Barcelona confirmed Ousmane Dembele has not signed a new contract offer…Arsenal are one of several clubs monitoring Marco Asensio’s situation at Real Madrid with the 26-year-old midfielder’s future set to be resolved next week…Arsenal are in talks to sell German goalkeeper Bernd Leno to Fulham in a shock summer transfer.
