Tottenham are hot on the trail of a Moroccan star tipped to succeed Harry Kane, Man Utd have been sent a warning about Cody Gakpo, while Friday’s Transfer Gossip has big news about a reborn star and fans favourite at Newcastle.

WALID CHEDDIRA INTEREST FROM TOTTENHAM INTEREST CONFIRMED

Tottenham are yet to make an official offer for Walid Cheddira – but the Bari striker is very much on Fabio Paratici’s wishlist as he ponders life after Harry Kane.

The England captain has now under two years remaining on his Tottenham contract, leading to rumours he could be lured away. Indeed, reports state he is waiting to see what the future holds for boss Antonio Conte before committing his own future.

To that end, Bayern Munich are reportedly monitoring his situation with intent. Furthermore, Kane has seemingly come to two big decisions with a report claiming the striker’s prospective transfer to Bayern has taken a dramatic leap forward.

Understandably, Tottenham are keen to tie their all-time Premier League top scorer to a new contract. However, they are also preparing for the worst-case scenario should Kane be lured away. As such, they are reportedly looking towards Bari star Cheddira as a would-be successor.

The Moroccan has been earning rave reviews in Italy after his goal-a-game exploits for Bari. He has 13 goals in 13 games so far this season for Bari, albeit in Italy’s second tier.

Nonetheless, his efforts have seen him strongly linked with Spurs, with Paratici and Conte both huge admirers. Serie A leaders Napoli are also reportedly keen.

Walid Cheddira bids likely

Now Bari’s sporting director Ciro Polito says that while interest in their star is growing, they are yet to receive a firm bid.

“There has been no official offer for Cheddira,” Polito told Cusano Italia TV. “Obviously, he is a player (with admirers). But, for now, we keep him tight.”

Polito claims, though, that both Conte and Paratici are big admirers of the 6ft 2in striker.

And now Bari president Luigi de Laurentiis reckons it is only a matter of time before offers arrive.

“Many Serie A clubs are (showing interest),” De Laurentiis told Mediaset. “We are happy with his huge explosion (in form).”

“Interest from Serie A? It is still early. The boy is very happy in Bari,” adds agent Bruno di Napoli, via Radio Punto Nuovo. “He has a contract here until 2025.”

CODY GAKPO WARNING FOR MAN UTD

Robin van Persie has told Manchester United that Cody Gakpo is a man of many talents – but playing centre forward is not one of them.

United are hot on the trail of the PSV star – and Thursday’s Euro Paper Talk claims he has made a move to Old Trafford his No 1 priority.

The Netherlands star is enjoying another stellar season and already has 27 goal contributions in 21 matches this season. And with a valuation of around £40m, it is easy to see why so many clubs are casting admiring glances his way.

Indeed, with Erik ten Hag needing a new striker to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, many feel Gakpo fits the bill.

However, Van Persie has warned Man Utd that while Gakpo is a multi-talented star, playing as a traditional No 9 is not one of them.

“He is a good player and always finds a way in most games to have an influence, in terms of getting an assist or scoring a goal,” Van Persie told BT Sport. “Gakpo is always dangerous.

“He’s not really an out-and-out striker; he can play as a No 10, on the [left] wing, as a false striker or on the right-wing. He can play in those four positions in the front.

“But Gakpo has a good physique. He is strong, fast and can dribble. He is an all-round player.”

MIGUEL ALMIRON SET FOR NEW NEWCASTLE DEAL

Miguel Almiron is set to be handed a new deal at Newcastle on the back of his rich run of form at St James’ Park.

The Paraguayan star is almost halfway into the five-year deal he signed at the club in January 2019. The Magpies paid Atlanta United a then club-record £21m for his services.

There were a few flashes of brilliance from Almiron during his first 18 months at the club. However, he was in and out of the side and few would have been disappointed had the 28-year-old left over the summer.

But he looks a player reborn under Eddie Howe this season and is now a major player for the club. He has six goals to his name, with his displays alerting other clubs to his future.

However, the Daily Telegraph reports that Newcastle are willing to offer Almiron a two-year extension, tying him to the club until 2026.

That would secure his future until he turns 32 and put to bed talk he may be lured away.

To put into context his improvement, Almiron has scored five Premier League goals this month. That is the same number scored by £100m British record signing Jack Grealish has managed during his entire time at Manchester City.

Almiron is not the Newcastle player in demand. Star midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is also attracting attention, with Thursday’s Transfer Gossip revealing strong interest in him from Liverpool.
