Lewandowski latest

09:54 , Alex Young

Robert Lewandowski has stepped up efforts to leave Bayern, with Barcelona keen on signing him.

The striker is keen to find a solution as soon as possible, suggesting that players may be put off joining Bayern if they fail to show him respect when leaving.

Talking to Polish outlet Onet Sport, he said: “I just want to leave Bayern. Loyalty and respect are more important than the work. The best thing to do is find a solution together. They didn't want to listen to me until the end. Something died inside me - and it's impossible to get over that. Even if you want to be professional, you can't make up for it.

“During so many years at the club I was always ready, available, despite injuries and the pain, I gave my best. I think the best thing to do is to find a good solution for both sides. And not to look for a one-sided decision.

"I’m not looking for a unilateral solution, that makes no sense, not after so much time, after such a successful era and with my will and support.

"What kind of player will want to go to Bayern knowing that something like this could happen to them? Where are the loyalty and respect then? I was always been ready, I spent eight nice years here, I met wonderful people and I would like it to stay that way in my mind."

“Typically, the discussions we had around extending his contract were centred on: what kind of contribution do we see him making as a player?” Klopp told the club’s official website.

“My answer to him was the same I’ll share with supporters: we don’t limit it. We just want the same from him again, because that’s not possible to replace. He can still do it and we still need it.

“So I’m grateful he answered the call and agreed to give us the extra year of his extraordinary career. More to come.”

“I think that Jude Bellingham would be absolutely sensational,” Collymore told CaughtOffside.

“I was reading this morning that James Milner will be offered an extension at Liverpool, but that Fabinho, Henderson, Thiago and Milner quadruple are getting older.

“So for me, somebody like Jude Bellingham would be an absolute no brainer.”

Factors behind Lukaku decision

11:26 , Matt Verri

Romelu Lukaku‘s future at Chelsea could be linked to whether Marina Granovskaia stays at the club.

The Belgian striker had a frustrating first season back in west London, finishing as the club’s top scorer but having long spells out of the side after seemingly falling out with Thomas Tuchel.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Lukaku is likely to stay at Stamford bridge if director Granovskaia does the same under the new ownership of Todd Boehly.

“It depends now on who will decide for the future of Chelsea,” he told wettfreunde.

“If Marina Granovskaia will stay or not. If she will stay, I don’t think, knowing how she fought to have Lukaku, with Inter, last summer, and say ‘you can go to Inter on loan without option to buy.”

“I think it’s really, really difficult but in football transfers you can never say impossible.”

Liverpool could be ready to join the race to sign Kalvin Phillips this summer.

Manchester City have been linked with the Leeds midfield and now Jurgen Klopp’s side are also keen on a move for Phillips, according to SPORT.

Bergwijn pushes for move

10:52 , Matt Verri

It looks like being a busy summer at Tottenham as they push for a number of signings, but there could also be a fair few departures.

Steven Bergwijn is one of those pushing to leave north London in search of regular first-team football.

“I just need to go play. I want to leave Spurs now, that’s for sure,” Bergwijn told Dutch outlet AD.

“Is it important that my new club plays in the Champions League? That’s not my top priority. It would be nice, but what’s important is that I’m going to play.’

“I wasn’t allowed to leave Spurs in the winter and then I didn’t have any problems. But for the last few months, I was hardly looked after there.

“I want to go and play somewhere weekly. It would be nice if there was clarity soon. My situation now has to be different.”

The 19-year-old Frenchman is close to joining Newcastle for £36million but the Telegraph reports there is still work to do to get the move over the line.

Last week, Reims president Jean-Pierre Caillot confirmed that an offer had come in that the club were happy with.

“Today, it is very concrete,” he said.

“On the table, there is one that suits us very well. It is an offer which, in my view, is sportingly interesting for the player and it is now up to him to make his choice.”

“Like I said, you just have to think it through.”

They were beaten in their play-off final by Wales yesterday and now clubs are hoping to learn what the 25-year-old’s next move will be. Arsenal and West Ham are both interested in Zinchenko, who has struggled to secure a starting spot at the Etihad.

Both sides are attracted to the idea of the Ukrainian being able to play in midfield or at left-back, with City unlikely to stand in his way if he demands a move.

Club president Herbert Hainer said to BILD: “We have always said that Robert Lewandowski has a contract with Bayern until June 30, 2023.

“Where are we going if a player can terminate a contract early when we as a club would have to pay him in full until the last day of the agreement? That’s not right, it can’t be like that.”

“I’m a bit surprised that Robert decided to go public, I wouldn’t have done it if I were him. He’s been with Bayern for a long time, he’s won a lot of titles with us.

“I think he knows very well what he has at Bayern, that is, a club that treats its players very well, that does everything it can to make them perform at their best.”
