Welcome back to the Evening Standard’s LIVE coverage of all the latest transfer news as clubs plan ahead for the January window, which is now less than two weeks away from opening.

Chelsea spent over £200million in the summer window, and signings like Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Edouard Mendy have endured mixed fortunes at Stamford Bridge, which could lead to more business being conducted by Frank Lampard in the New Year.

Arsenal, meanwhile, will be desperate for new additions in January following a torrid run of form that has heaped pressure upon manager Mikel Arteta, with the Gunners said to be closing in on a deal for Hertha Berlin’s Omar Rekik after missing out on the RB Leipzig-bound Dominink Szoboszlai. Brighton’s Yves Bissouma is another player linked with the club.

Away-day specialists Manchester United will once again be linked with top targets such as Jadon Sancho, though the latest reports suggest they are ready to reignite their interest in Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez and young Ecuadorian midfielder Moises Caicedo.

As for Liverpool, serious injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez leave them short at the back - and Schalke’s Ozan Kabak remains a potential January option, with Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma also said to be on Jurgen Klopp’s radar.

The Lionel Messi to Manchester City speculation is also set to ramp up a notch with the Argentine able to sign pre-contract terms in January, while there are rumours that Gedson Fernandes could return to Benfica from Tottenham soon.
