Eyebrows were raised across social media on Wednesday afternoon when it emerged that a huge billboard of Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold had been erected in the centre of Madrid. It comes at a time when the right-back is being routinely linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Therefore the huge advertisement for fashion label Guess, featuring the Reds' vice-captain, caused a stir across platforms X and Blue Sky when it was posted by influential Liverpool fan-media group, the Anfield Wrap.

The giant advert, which features Alexander-Arnold and model Iris Law, was spotted in Madrid's Felipe II Square and made its way online by Wednesday morning, leading to increased chatter about the prospect of the No.66 departing at the end of the campaign on a free transfer to the Spanish capital.

However, while the La Liga holders continue to be credited with an significant interest in the Liverpool defender, Alexander-Arnold's latest piece of commercial work is not linked to any future move to the Bernabeu.

The images, which are part of the Californian brand's 'GUESS AIRWASH' concept, were shot by Brazilian photographer Rafael Pavarotti and are not exclusive to Madrid, despite the somewhat unfortunate framing around transfer speculation.

As part of the Guess' Jeans rollout, the 26-year-old was also seen on the same billboard in the Netherlands and Italy over the summer. The England international penned a deal back in June to become an ambassador with the brand and the shoot also appeared in Milan and Amsterdam at the time.

"As part of the partnership, the Liverpool FC and England player will be featured in the brand’s Summer 2024 campaign, ahead of his participation in the upcoming 2024 Euros Championship," wrote Fashion Network back in June.

"He joins fellow ambassador, British actress and model Iris Law, who joined the brand in May. The duo is captured through the lens of photographer Rafael Pavarotti, showcasing the essence of Guess Jeans latest contemporary vision. The campaign images are set in a minimalist environment, focusing on the brand's classic denim pieces and Americana style.

"The launch marks Nicolai Marciano, creative director of Guess Jeans, first commercial project since becoming chief new business development officer at Guess. Most recently, the brand also inaugurated a European store in Amsterdam, marking the first of a new fleet of Guess Jeans flagships, that introduce a new innovative retail design concept rooted in the California Landscape."

Alexander-Arnold is inside the final seven months of his long-term Liverpool contract and can speak to interested parties about a pre-contract agreement from January 1 and Real Madrid have been repeatedly linked with making a move in the New Year.

Liverpool remain hopeful of tying down the Academy graduate to fresh terms, however, and conversations continue behind the scenes.

Alexander-Arnold, it is understood, has remained determined not to have contract talks play out in the media with his boyhood club, with the 2020 Premier League winner desperate to maintain a respectful stance.
