Trent Alexander-Arnold outlines 'main factor' in Liverpool contract decision after hitting landmark
Trent Alexander-Arnold has reiterated his desire to win trophies during his career and captain Liverpool with the Reds having made a positive start to life under new boss Arne Slot.
"Great game," he told reporters including from Liverpool.com after helping his side to a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth. "They had the disallowed goal early on but then we were able to control it and bounce back.
"Heading into half-time 3-0 is something we hadn't been able to do this season so it's working well. There was a big emphasis on the midfield getting the triangles right and we worked on that during training and it worked perfectly today."
I've seen 3 Liverpool players change their fortunes as Arne Slot prediction comes true Liverpool just dropped quiet transfer hint as Arne Slot success hinges on 5 players
"It's good numbers," he said when asked about hitting the 100 mark for goals and assists combined. "I think I'm capable of many more, if I'm honest.
"But the clean sheet today was a big one as well. For now, I'm just completely focused on this season; how many clean sheets and assists I can get, and hopefully do enough to help us win the league."
Inside the final year of his contract at Liverpool, the Reds' vice-captain insists that his focus is on winning silverware under new head coach Slot. He also reiterated what drives him to be the best version of himself.
"I've always said that I want to captain the club," he continued. "That's a goal of mine but whether that happens is out of my hands to be honest. I've been at the club 20 years now; I've signed four or five contract extensions and none of those have been played out in public. This one won't be either.
"I want to be a Liverpool player this season [as a minimum]. I want to win trophies; I am a player who is highly motivated by trophies and winning things and being elite. So that is probably the main factor of anything, if you have a personality that is elite, who wants to win and will do anything to win then that is what drives me.
"We were close to the title last season and we got a cup. The quad was on for a while so the signs are there. This season, we're looking really good but we need to have the consistency. And you've got the other cups and the Champions League to come into play. It will be difficult but we're looking to win as many trophies as we can."
