Aston Villa insist Jhon Duran is not for sale after receiving a derisory bid from West Ham.

It's thought that the offer submitted by the Hammers was lower than the £57m quoted earlier today and Villa are unhappy by the timing of it, a day before their penultimate Champions League league phase clash against AS Monaco.

Duran committed his future to the club back in October by signing a long-term contract which ties him down until 2030 after he had teams queuing up for his signature last summer, with no less than 40 expressing an interest in him.

He remained in Emery’s squad beyond August after West Ham didn’t pay what Villa wanted for him back then, before he bagged the winning goal on the opening weekend of the Premier League season at the London Stadium.

The 21-year-old has found the back of the net 12 times in 27 appearances in all competitions this season, despite only making seven starts. Three of those goals have come in the Champions League after he scored the only goal of the game in VIlla’s memorable win over Bayern Munich, before then doubling their advantage against Bologna and scoring a stunner at RB Leipzig last month.

Duran had replaced Watkins as Villa's starting striker at the start of December before he was sent off at Newcastle on Boxing Day, which brought a three-match ban. He had scored in three successive matches against Brentford, Nottingham Forest and Man City before Villa's trip to St. James' Park.

The Colombia international joined Villa in January 2023 from Chicago Fire in a deal worth £18m.
