Ex-Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is ‘appreciated’ by Bayern Munich who could pull the trigger on replacing Julian Nagelsmann amid a secret clause reveal, per reports.

Tuchel was relieved of his duties at Stamford Bridge upon reaching the 100-game mark. He left Chelsea having guided them to Champions League glory in 2021. He also helped them lift the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup trophies.

Graham Potter was installed as his replacement less than 36 hours later. Clearly, Chelsea’s hierarchy had the Englishman in mind long before Tuchel was ousted.

Varying reasons have since emerged as to why Tuchel was given the boot. However, what is clear is that Tuchel was and remains highly thought of by Chelsea fans.

Large sections of the crowd engaged in a minute’s applause after 21 minutes in their last encounter with RB Salzburg. The 21st minute signified the year Tuchel led them to UCL glory – 2021.

A manager the calibre of Tuchel will not be short of offers from Europe’s elite when he decides to get back in the management game.

Indeed, he recently placed first on a list of the best 10 managers currently available, beating out the likes of Mauricio Pochettino, Zinedine Zidane and Marcelo Bielsa.

But According to the Mirror, he may soon be off the market.

They detail the ongoing struggles of Julian Nagelsmann at Bayern Munich.

After three wins on the spin, Bayern have gone win-less in their last four in the Bundesliga.

A streak like that is practically unheard of at Bayern in modern times and the heat is beginning to rise for the 35-year-old Nagelsmann.

The public lines coming from Bayern’s higher ups all suggest Nagelsmann is safe. However, the German media don’t all share that view.

Nagelsmann backed, but he knows Bayern situation is “not good”

Speaking to Sky Germany, Bayern CEO, Oliver Kahn, recently said: “We are not dealing with any other coaches now. We are totally convinced of Julian.

“Of course we are all dissatisfied, in a bad mood. We have to get to the bottom of it all. And assume that as soon as it starts again against Leverkusen, we will and must attack fully.”

That public backing was echoed by sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic after their shock 1-0 defeat to Augsburg on Saturday.

“We haven’t won in four games in the Bundesliga, we got three out of twelve possible points, so I’m a little worried,” he said. “You can’t win in the Bundesliga the way we played today.”

Salihamidzic added: “I said to the coach: ‘It’s more important to me that we’d rather draw once more than that we have too many dissatisfied players.’

“Of course Julian is finding his style. This is also a learning process. He hasn’t had a squad like that either.”

Nagelsmann is fully aware runs like the one Bayern have endured will not be tolerated forever.

Via Fabrizio Romano, he said following the Augsburg loss: “The recent negative trend is not good, a lot has to change.

“I’m going to think, then we’ll see how things go on from here. I will think about everything, about myself, the situation, everything.”

Tuchel call dependant on next two matches?

The Mirror suggest Bayern’s first two fixtures back after the international break could determine Nagelsmann’s fate.

They square off against Bayer Leverkusen before hosting Czech Republic outfit Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League.

Those clashes could reportedly prove ‘crucial’ in whether Nagelsmann keeps his job amid fears he’s too young for such a high profile gig.

If he is axed, Bild note Bayern ‘appreciate’ Thomas Tuchel, while also referencing a ‘secret clause’ that could spring Nagelsmann’s sacking.

It’s claimed the clause allows Bayern to sack Nagelsmann for a ‘set figure’, though it’s weighted.

That means the earlier Bayern swing the axe, the more they’ll have to pay, though the figures involved aren’t revealed.
