Thomas Tuchel is ‘very much in favour of pursuing’ Robert Lewandowski, who would ‘consider Chelsea’ if he doesn’t get his preferred move to Barcelona this summer.

The Blues have been linked with a number of strikers this summer, including Cristiano Ronaldo, after Romelu Lukaku returned to Inter Milan from Stamford Bridge.

Lewandowksi was also reportedly among a number of targets on a Chelsea shortlist at the start of the window, but the Poland international’s seeming desperation to join Barcelona has quelled rumours of a move to the Blues in recent times.

But Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports claims that while Lewandowsi is willing to ‘wait for Barcelona’, a move to Chelsea ‘is of appeal’.

He tweeted: ‘Robert Lewandowski will consider Chelsea only if his Barcelona move falls through. Barca remain confident of finally striking a deal with Bayern, who want close to £45m paid upfront. Lewandowski has said he’ll wait for Barca. Negotiations stalled but movement expected this week.

‘Lewandowski wants to leave Bayern regardless but Chelsea are wary of a Raphinha repeat where they have an offer accepted and then it simply prompts Barcelona to move. They have been told, though, the move is of appeal.

Jacobs added that Tuchel is interested in a move for the 33-year-old; more so than Ronaldo.

‘If Lewandowski becomes a genuine option, which should be apparent after Barca’s latest offer, Tuchel is very much in favour of pursuing him, much more so than Ronaldo.

‘PSG also monitoring Lewandowski situation but this early in the window he’s going to give Barca time.’

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano says Raheem Sterling ‘can be considered a new Chelsea player’ after the 27-year-old completed his medical in London.

The Blues are currently at their preseason training camp in Los Angeles ahead of their tour of the US, with Sterling said to be flying to LA to be unveiled before joining his new teammates.
