Follow live reaction from Turkey vs Italy as Euro 2020 got under way in Rome tonight.

The Azzurri entered the competition off the back of a 27-game unbeaten streak under Roberto Mancini, with key decisions from the former Manchester City manager seeing Manuel Locatelli stepping in for Marco Verratti and Domenico Berardi completing a mouth-watering trident with Lorenzo Insigne and Ciro Immobile.

Following a delay of 12 months due to the coronavirus pandemic, Italy took advantage of their position as one of 11 host nations in Group A, which will see them also matched up against Wales and Switzerland, who meet in Baku tomorrow, with a dominant display to beat Turkey 3-0.

Italy’s squad is a mix of veteran graft – in the shape of Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini and Jorginho – and fresh young talent like Alessandro Bastoni and Federico Chiesa, and they produced when it mattered.

Turkey are being tipped as dark horse in some quarters, having beaten Netherlands 4-2 in a World Cup qualifier earlier this year, but it was not their night in the Stadio Olimpico.
