Twitterati Stunned By India’s Collapse On Day 4 As England Level The Series 1-1
Team India showed great signs of determination and grit on the third day of the Headingley Test only for it to be completely shattered on the morning of Day 4. After keeping the English bowlers at bay, the batting order crumbled as soon as the new ball was taken by the hosts.
Joe Root’s men brushed aside India in the first session on Saturday. Overnight batsmen, Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli walked out to bat with a lot of the Indian hopes resting on them. Their hard work came undone in the 4th over itself when Pujara was dismissed LBW by Ollie Robinson.
Kohli and his deputy Ajinkya Rahane carried on, but they didn’t look comfortable. Kohli survived a few close calls and got to his fifty but fell almost immediately after to Robinson. That was the last bit of hope and once the skipper headed back, a procession followed.
The typical middle-order collapse ensued, as Rahane (10 off 25) and Rishabh Pant (1 off 7) fell to innocuous deliveries outside off. None of the others lasted more than 10 balls as Ravindra Jadeja was fighting a lone battle at the other end. He scored at a brisk rate but he was only delaying the inevitable.
On the rare occasion of an off-day for James Anderson, the other two pacers, Robinson and Craig Overton stepped up to complete the formalities. The former even picked up his second fifer of the series, ending with figures of 5/65. Although the pitch didn’t offer much assistance, skillful bowling combined with poor batting brought about India’s downfall.
The winning moment!!

England eventually won the match by an innings and 76 runs, a stunning comeback after suffering a devastating heartbreak at Lord’s a couple of weeks ago. The victory levels the series 1-1, with the next Test beginning on September 2 at the Oval in London.
Here’s how Twitterati reacted to the day’s play between England and India:
A fight back is what makes a 5 test match series special when the best teams play against each other. 2 tests left

Great fight back after losing the last test by @ECB_cricket . Outplayed India in this test match , special from @root66 leading from the front . As a unit they bowled brilliantly – Well done to #OllieRobinson for his 5-er.

Fantastic ruthless performance from England .. that’s as good as it gets .. To do that after Lords shows great character which comes from the Skipper .. India !!!!! A few days to forget .. they really have been useless !!! #ENGvIND

This was a bad Test match. Time we accept, introspect, work on it and get back at the Oval. I think we will. Don’t see this going the 2014 way. Lords and then nothing. Absolutely don’t see that happening. Will be very surprised. #INDvENG

Yesterday's resolve has been eviscerated in the face of some outstanding bowling this morning. Back to London at 1-1, then!

The most underutilized player of India for this series has been Ravindra Jadeja.
