Two East Lancs doctors to face medical tribunal starting next week
Two East Lancashire doctors are facing a joint tribunal next week after being accused of falsifying patient records.
The medical practitioner's tribunal, which is to be held in Manchester from June 6 until June 21, will inquire into the allegation that on one or more occasion between March 25 and 31 2018, Dr Sarah Alam retrospectively inserted an entry into one or more patient’s medical records to state that the patient had been given a chronic disease monitoring verbal invite when this was untrue.
It is further alleged that on one or more occasion between March 30 and 31 March, Dr Sarah Alam exception reported patients from Quality and Outcomes Framework indicators when the patients did not qualify for exception reporting.
Exception reporting is a system whereby trainees can inform senior colleagues of occasions when they work outside of their contracted hours and receive compensation.
The tribunal will also inquire into the allegation that, on one or more occasion on March 30 2018, Dr Mohammed Raouf Alam retrospectively inserted an entry into one or more patient’s medical records to state that the patient had been given a chronic disease monitoring verbal invite when this was untrue.
It is further alleged that on one or more occasion between March 30 and 31 March 2018, Dr Mohammed Raouf Alam exception reported a patient from Quality and Outcomes Framework indicators when the patient did not qualify for exception reporting.
It is alleged that Dr Sarah and Dr Mohammed Raouf Alam’s actions were dishonest.
Both doctors are believed to work in the Blackburn with Darwen area.
