Two tennis fans kicked out of Aussie Open after amusing tug of war over player's sweaty headband

A video of two tennis fans arguing over a player’s sweatband has gone viral after they were thrown out of the Australian Open for their antics.

The women watched British No 2 Katie Boulter lose to 11th seed Aryna Sabalenka in the second round, before Sabalenka threw her headband into the crowd.

Both women latched onto the sweaty garment and became embroiled in a petty squabble over who should keep the memento.

For more than a minute the adults both grappled with the headband to try and prize it out of the others hand in a ridiculous turn of events.

Neither were successful and it meant a rather amusing spectacle for the other tennis fans still in the court waiting for the next game.

Both ladies tried different tactics to take sole possession of the headband, from grabbing with both hands to trying to use their body to push the other lady away.

Security eventually had to get involved as bemused onlookers watched on.

The ladies were escorted out of the Melbourne Arena and, with neither of them willing to give up the souvenir, it was confiscated by the security guards.

Tennis reporter Jedd Zetzer filmed the incident and labelled it the ‘greatest thing’ that he has seen at the Australian Open.
