Uefa charge CSKA for offences during Arsenal Europa League tie

Uefa have opened disciplinary proceedings against CSKA Moscow after their Europa League quarter-final second leg against Arsenal on Thursday night.

CSKA face three charges from Uefa’s control, ethics and disciplinary body after a match that ended 2-2, allowing Arsenal to progress as 6-3 winners on aggregate.

The charges from European football’s governing body relate to the “setting of fireworks” and “throwing of objects” as well as stairways being blocked in the VEB Arena.

Uefa will deal with the case on May 31.

Meanwhile Arsenal have been pitted against Atletico Madrid in the draw for the semi-finals of the Europa League, with the other tie seeing Red Bull Salzburg face off against Marseille.

Arsenal will play the first leg of their tie at the Emirates Stadium on April 26 before travelling to the Wanda Metropolitan on May 3.

The final will be held in Lyon on May 16.
