UFC 166 Adds Featherweight Bout Between Matt Grice and Jeremy Larsen

UFC 166 Adds Featherweight Bout Between Matt Grice and Jeremy Larsen

A featherweight bout between Matt Grice and Jeremy Larsen has been added to the UFC 166 fight card slated for Oct. 19 in Houston.

UFC officials announced the bout on Wednesday.

Grice (15-5) is coming off of a loss to Dennis Bermudez at UFC 157: Rousey vs. Carmouche in February. Although that was a close bout that saw Grice lose a split decision, he is sorely in need of a victory.

This is Grice’s second run in the UFC. He went 1-3 during his first go around, and is 1-2 during his current tenure. Grice is undefeated outside of the Octagon.

Larsen’s (8-4, 1 NC) back is also against the wall. He made his promotional debut against Joe Proctor at the TUF 15 Finale last year, and then returned to challenge Lucas Martins at UFC on FX 8 in May. He lost both bouts.

Coming off of a knockout loss to Martins, the fight with Grice marks Larsen’s first at featherweight.

Cain Velasquez puts his UFC heavyweight championship on the line in the UFC 166 main event against former champion Junior dos Santos. It will be the third bout between the two, each man having won one fight against the other.
