UFC 183 Results: Tyron Woodley Grabs Split Decision Over Kelvin Gastelum

Tyron Woodly went the distance and came out on top with a split decision over Kevin Gastelum in the co-main event at UFC 183 on Saturday in Las Vegas.

Woodley fought a close bout, outlasting a late offense from his foe in the third round to earn the split nod with scores of 29-28, 28-29 and 30-27.

Through the first round, Gastelum held center Octagon for the majority of the frame, but Woodely seemed to land more effectively. The chorus of boos from the crowd reflected the stale pace of the opening round.

Woodley began to take center Octagon more the second round. In one exchange, he landed a right hand that wobbled Gastelum, making the shaken fighter backpedal in a daze. Gastelum recovered and made it through the round.

In the final five minutes, Gastelum started to turn up the offense and land in higher quantity. Woodley did well to counter and the two traded exchanges through the end of the fight.

With the win, Woodley has won two in a row and improves his standing in the title talks for the UFC 170-pound belt currently held by Robbie Lawler.
