UFC 185 Fighter Bonuses: New Champions Lead the Charge

Following UFC 185: Pettis vs. dos Anjos in Dallas on Saturday night, UFC president Dana White announced the usual post-fight bonuses, once again opting to issue four Performance of the Night $50,000 awards and forgoing a Fight of the Night.

Leading the charge were the two new champions.

Rafael dos Anjos dominated Anthony Pettis for five rounds, with White saying on the post-fight show that Pettis suffered a concussion and had to get seven stitches to his right eyebrow. Besides the lightweight belt, dos Anjos was awarded a $50,000 bonus.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk toppled Carla Esparza for the women's strawweight championship, finishing her by TKO stoppage late in the second round.

Ross Pearson took full advantage of his headlining slot on the preliminary portion of the card, knocking out Sam Stout and earning the third of the four Performance of the Night bonuses.

The final “official” bonus went to Beneil Dariush, who choked out Daron Cruickshank on the preliminary portion of the card.

White did lean over to Joe Duffy during the post-fight press conference to let him know he'd be getting some sort of “unofficial” bonus, as well.

“We’re not forgetting you brother. You’re getting a check too,” said White.

Duffy, the last man to defeat featherweight phenom Conor McGregor, made a great first impression in the Octagon. He landed a head-kick and several follow-up punches to take out Jake Lindsey in under two minutes of their bout on UFC Fight Pass.
